Who does not know the daydreaming of ideas and wishes that seem impossible and so far away? We felt the same way, until we decided to actually believe that nothing is impossible in the end, if you have an almighty God on your side. 

 

So what is this dream that we had in mind? 

 

For a long time, Marc had had the desire to study Protestant theology and then to become a pastor. Finally, we took our courage in both hands and began to inquire into the subject. So we moved to Vaux-sur-Seine, in the west of Paris, where Marc began his studies (three years for the licence, maybe two years afterwards for the master's degree) at the Faculté Libre de Théologie Évangélique from September 2020. 

 

The objectives of this common project are for us to deepen our knowledge of God and our relationship with Him, to strengthen our biblical, historical and literary knowledge in order to be solidly anchored in the true doctrine, and finally, to train ourselves for the various tasks of pastoral ministry, especially in preaching and in the helping relationship. All this to serve our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ, for His glory alone.

You will remember that we had started out with a three-year degree. But as theology is really fascinating for Marc and the interest in training is also relevant, as well as the obligation to have a Master's degree to be a pastor in the UEEL, we had to continue for at least two more years! Two at least, because Marc had to do a year of Master 1 (2023/2024), with some courses here at the Faculty, followed now one year of Master 2 (2024/2025). In short, another year of study before starting a full-time paid pastoral ministry.

 

This brings us to the financial side of things. Because it is thanks to you, our donors, that we are able to survive on a day-to-day basis and enable Marc to study. We would like to say a special thank you to our donors. They are, or have been, 19 regular and monthly donors, not forgetting the 12 occasional donors. Until August 2022, we received unemployment benefit, which still represented 60% of our monthly budget. From August 2022, therefore, we started a new funding cycle. The UEEL support covers around 15% of our budget and is therefore insufficient to make up for the loss of unemployment benefit. Fortunately, the RSA made up a good part of the unemployment benefit for the year 2022/2023. But it stopped at the end of last summer. I might as well tell you that it's been a difficult year, and we have had to dip into our savings to cope with the day-to-day running of 3 children. Fortunately, we have been able to finish the year in good spirits thanks to 3 substantial sources of funding, including one from our Church Union. But all that to say that, to date, we are around 400€ short of our budget for next year (from August 2024 to August 2025). With this in mind, we are looking for more sponsors who would be willing to support us during the next year beginning in August, if possible. We've already set aside our last four years so that Marc can train for the pastoral ministry, and now he only has one more year of full-time work left. A huge thank you to you! Because it's you who are enabling Marc to devote 150% of his time and energy to his training.
