Are you a good person?

Are you a good person? This is the question that an American evangelist, Ray Comfort, approaches people with. Several questions follow that lead people to judge themselves according to the Ten Commandments. The conclusion is that before God we are not good people but that we need His grace to save and help us.

And no, neither am I a good person! And it is important to realize this. Realize that I need God's grace to become what he wants me to become. Beyond the aspects of "competence" and "qualities" that are not yet at the level, there is above all the notion of dignity. In what way am I worthy of being saved? In what way am I worthy to receive all that the Lord gives me? In what way am I worthy to respond to the call to pastoral ministry? The answer is: in nothing! I am no better than my neighbour, nor have I reached a higher spiritual level that would be the key to opening the lock of the door of perfection, leading to the ministry of the Word.

Today, it is simply time for us to commit ourselves to this project and this path full of uncertainty but also of joy to be able to serve our Master in this way.
